Internship Program
Directions to the theater

The rigorous 12-week Sacred Drama Internship Program provides college-age and graduate students with classroom training, valuable performance experience, mentorship by skilled actors and directors, and a solid philosophy of using drama to communicate the Gospel of Christ.  The internship provides the Christian theatre artisan a unique opportunity to work in a professional theatre ministry that has Christ as its Center,  gaining invaluable experience in all aspects of using dramatic production for the communication of the gospel and the glory of the Lord Jesus Christ. These positions vary from full-time cast and crew, to part-time interns, starting late May through mid August.

Interns will be integrally involved in the duties of each department, working alongside THE ACADEMY OF ARTS professional staff, artists, and technicians to gain real hands-on experience in a full-time ministry of professional sacred drama.  Interns will focus on one specific area of interest, but will also be involved in other areas, as all departmental duties slightly overlap.

For questions concerning lodging, call the office at 1-800-620-9997 during business hours.  College credit will be given for all full-time interns.  Internships are offered in the following areas:

  • Acting

  • Costuming – Make-up Artistry

  • Technical Production

  • Scene Design and Construction -- Properties

  • Stage Managing

  • Office Assistant – Marketing

We are looking for creative, dedicated, responsible, self-motivated, Christ-honoring individuals with basic experience in ministry, and a desire to serve the Lord with their various gifts.  This program is certainly not for everyone.  It is a rigorous pace, an intense atmosphere, and requires much dedication and stamina.  Each intern will leave with a much broader knowledge of every aspect of the craft.  All full-time interns will be involved in both on-stage and behind the scenes work, including some counseling responsibilities after the productions, and are expected to attend all rehearsals and performances 6:00 - 10:30 p.m.(M,T,Th,Fr,Sat).  Exceptions can be made for pre-arranged absences.

Interns receive invaluable experience working alongside professionals and assisting them on the stage, in the scene shop, the control room, recording studio, costume shop, and make-up room.  Plus, they will perform in GOD MEANT IT FOR GOOD - the story of Joseph and his brothers, a full-scale, professional, sacred production in the LOGOS THEATRE more than 30 times!  Individuals enrolled in the program are mentored by seasoned professionals who are dedicated to using their talents for the Lord.  As they are mentored, they are gradually presented with more and more responsibilities and opportunities as they prove themselves.  THE ACADEMY OF ARTS has been training young people for over 35 years to use their talents for the Lord, and in this new Theatre, we are determined to further that impact on many lives by offering this experience to dedicated individuals that they might understand more deeply our unique philosophy of sacred drama, and be inspired and equipped to "Make the Bible Come Alive" through powerful biblical drama.
