Spiritual Impact
THE ACADEMY OF ARTS staff has as their first concern, the spiritual
development of young people. In chapel, the staff use music, magic,
dramatic readings and strong preaching to present the claims of Christ  on
the lives of elementary and junior/senior high school young people.
Excellence in Directing
The Drama Camp Staff have
all been professionally trained by Dr. and Mrs.
Chavers. During the week-long Drama Camp, the Staff works in
fast-paced rehearsals, striving for excellence in blocking,
characterization and dramatic climax.
Technical Instruction
Stage Make-up Supervisors teach high school students and staff (as
applicable) the basics of stage make-up, including straight make-up
and old age. More advanced students are instructed in special effects and
beard making. A brief
devotional before each class helps keep everything in perspective. The
stage crew meets every day for
devotions, for instruction in stage lighting, audio and in the setting up
and shifting of scenery. Students learn that "behind the scenes"
work is just as important as the acting.
We Supply the Costumes,
Sets and Equipment
THE ACADEMY OF ARTS has nearly 600 costumes in its costume
collection, including Biblical, Elizabethan, Revolutionary, Civil War.
Reconstruction and the Modern periods. The Drama Camp Staff brings with
them costumes, props, scenery and cyclorama. They also bring professional
stage lights, lighting control board and a complete sound system.
The Play and Musical
Program.
All the plays and musicals in the NICKY
CHAVERS DRAMA SERIES have been used with great success in churches
and Christian schools. They are biblically sound and dramatically
excellent. At the end of the. week, a program will be presented ~ a
full-length high school play.
