Dr.
Nicky Chavers is
the Founder and President of THE
ACADEMY OF ARTS.
Nicky
Chavers
holds a BA in Bible, a BA in Sacred Music
and a Masters Degree in Music and Dramatic Production.
He taught on the college level for five
years, pastored a church for
twelve years and has received honorary degrees for his contributions to Christian
Education in the fields of drama and music. He has written more than
twenty-six
full-length
plays and musicals on Biblical, historic, missionary and moral themes.
Originally
from
Pensacola,
Florida, Dr. Chavers was 11
years old
when he was first featured on the local WPFA-TV
station, he sang in a weekly 15-minute program. At age 12, he
hosted a regular 30-minute "Talent Parade" on WEAR-TV.
He trusted Christ as his Savior at a Hyman Appleman revival meeting
in a local church in
Pensacola
. Dr.
Frank Garlock
became a mentor in his life and encouraged him in his call to the
ministry. Dr. Chavers preached his first sermon at the age of 16.
Nicky
and his wife, Sheri,
founded THE
ACADEMY OF ARTS, whose have become well
known throughout the Eastern and Midwestern United States since their first
tour in 1971. The leadership of the Chavers is backed by a
Board of Directors and Advisors made up of pastors, Christian educators
and Christian businessmen.

Dr. and Mrs. Chavers
have four daughters, Christy, Wendy, Nicole
and Natalie.
Christy is married
to Marlin
Stutzman,
who is now representing northeast Indiana in the U.S.
House of Representatives. They have two boys, Payton
(2001) and
Preston (2006).
Wendy
married Gabriel
Rivera. They have one
son, Gabriel Joseph (2006) and a one daughter, Ava (2009) and are
serving in Virginia. Natalie
earned her masters in Graphic Design at Bob
Jones University
and is married to Andrew Perrie.
In
January of 2011 at THE ACADEMY OF ARTS 40th
Anniversary Celebration, Nicky & Sheri officially announced
their semi-retirement and turned the reigns of leadership over to Noah and Nicole Stratton.
Nicole
is
the production director for Logos Theatre and the road teams and
Noah
serves as the Administrative Director of the ministry. Noah and Nicole have one son, Noah Brinton Lee
(2009).
Working with a dedicated group of full-time staff of 10, the Chavers and the Strattons
continue to
minister in churches, Christian Schools & in Homeschool Groups, and at
the Logos Theatre.
