Overview

The Academy of Arts is pleased to host our very first film festival in beautiful Greenville South Carolina! Judges will include local professionals, seasoned directors, and award winning film makers. Submit your film and then plan to join us in April for a wonderful event complete with a performance of the stage adaption of Prince Caspian! Welcome to our first annual Venture Film Festival (VFF) 2018!

  • Best Screenplay
  • Merit Award*

 

* The Merit Award will be given to the film or film(s) that although not receiving another award, are noteworthy or exceptional in another area. For example, a film could miss out on the above awards but receive a Merit Award for producing an excellent soundtrack, or for a stellar acting performance.

Submission Categories

Mobile Shorts

  • Submission Cost $15-25
  • These films may be submitted from 30 seconds up to 10 minutes and must be filmed exclusively on a mobile platform like an iPhone, Android, or tablet.

Short Films

  • Submission Cost $25-35
  • These films may be submitted from 2-40 minutes and can be shot on any platform.

Feature Film (Documentary and Fiction)

  • Submission Cost $40-50
  • Any production longer than 40 minutes is considered a feature film.

Student Films

Student films must be directed by a student but can have cast and crew who are not students. If selected, the program will automatically be considered for the Best Student Film Award.

Festival Begins April 13, 2018

Submission Rules

  • All films must submitted by the late deadline date or will not be considered.
  • No nudity, overt sexuality, or profanity will be accepted.
  • Student films must either be submitted online in the student category or must be clearly designated as such or they cannot be considered as a student film.
  • Please provide a synopsis or description of your program that does not go beyond one page. In addition, please also provide a list of Cast and Crew members that does not exceed 2 pages.
  • There is no limit to the number of entries you may submit. A separate entry and entry fee must ac-company each work. (Example: Two films, two entry submissions, two photos, two money orders, etc…
  • No refunds will be given on submission fees.

Terms and Conditions

By your submission of a program, you authorize us to use your program in all promotions for the festival. This would include encore presentations after the festival to which accepted.

Mail-in Submissions

  • Please provide a synopsis or description of your program that does not go beyond one page. In addition, please also provide a list of Cast and Crew members that does not exceed 2 pages.
  • Please designate which category you want the film to be entered and if it is a student production.
  • There is no limit to the number of entries you may submit. But here as well A separate entry and entry fee must accompany each work.
  • Please mail-in a blu-ray copy or DVD of your film along with descriptions and any promotional artwork. For payment please make out checks to the Academy of Arts. Payment can also be made over the phone by calling (864) 268-9342
